How much will Issue 7A cost me?

Issue 7A is a sales tax of a third of a penny per dollar, or 33 cents on a $100 purchase. Groceries, gas, home utilities, prescriptions, and medical supplies are exempt, so the tax does not touch everyday essentials.

The tax applies only inside the Front Range Passenger Rail District, the same communities that vote on the measure. It is expected to raise about $295 million a year, which pays for building out the Colorado Connector and running it.

Compare that with what driving already costs. Transportation is the second-largest expense for Colorado households, more than $15,000 a year per family, and insurance, maintenance, and depreciation alone run about $12,900 per car per year. Households in transit-connected neighborhoods spend about half as much on transportation, close to $9,000 a year in savings. The Connector gives Front Range families a way to get where they’re going and leave the car at home. Election Day is November 3, 2026.
