Is the Colorado Connector run by RTD?

No. The Colorado Connector is overseen by the Front Range Passenger Rail District, an independent special district the Colorado legislature created to deliver passenger rail along the Front Range. RTD is a funding partner, not the operator.

Issue 7A on the 2026 ballot is a measure referred to the ballot by the Front Range Passenger Rail District, not RTD. Amtrak will run the starter service between Fort Collins and Denver, and the District will choose future operators as the system grows.

Taxes voters approved for FasTracks in 2004 are helping pay for the starter service, including $156 million from RTD's FasTracks savings account. The Connector also helps deliver on RTD's 22-year-old Northwest Rail promise by putting trains on that corridor. But the District, not RTD, plans, funds, and oversees the Colorado Connector. Election Day is November 3, 2026.
