Rail service between Fort Collins, Denver a welcome first step (BizWest)

All aboard.

A preliminary agreement announced April 29 paves the way for long-sought passenger rail service connecting Fort Collins and Denver, with stops in Loveland, Longmont, Boulder, Louisville, Broomfield and Westminster.

The agreement between the Joint Service Executive Committee — a 12-member body organized to accelerate passenger rail service — and BNSF Railway means that service could begin by January 2029. A final agreement with BNSF is expected by June 2026.

The service — dubbed Colorado Connector, or CoCo, after a public vote — will include three daily round trips with no new taxes. It’s a prelude to potential expanded service to Pueblo, which would require new taxes.
